Each Friday we're highlighting one of the lovely women in our community by learning about her favorite Chicago places and restaurants, hearing what websites she’s all jazzed about, and gaining some book recommendations from her favorite reads.
It’s 4 x Forth Friday and today we’re talking to Krystyn Johnson, an immensely talented Chicago make-up artist & hair stylist with her own strong, clean, and expressive style!
Places I frequent in Chicago:
Che Sguardo: Small, makeup boutique where the every day consumer can buy professional brands of makeup that you will not find in Sephora or Ulta.
Promontory Point: A Hyde Park gem. Perfect place for an afternoon picnic, kick back on your blanket with a good book, meditate while listening to the waves crash on the rocks or go for an uncrowded swim
Infinite Touch of Chicago: A totally unassuming, no frills massage "parlor" in the straight hood!. But don’t let the South Side location keep you away from this gem…Kimm gives the absolute best massages and her rates are ridiculously reasonable.
Maria’s Packaged Goods & Community Bar: Awesome little dive bar located in Bridgeport…especially awesome if you are a lover of craft beer.
Best Bites in Chicago:
Burt’s Place: Arguably the absolute best pizza in Chicago…well, actually it’s in Morton Grove. You MUST call in your order before you arrive to dine in as the owner, Burt (an elderly man who is so passionate about his craft…original founder of Pequods) is the only one that cooks the pizza!
Hash House A Go Go: Extravagant brunch menu, huge portions. Their food looks like pieces of art.
Nana Organic: Family owned restaurant located in Bridgeport. Serves local organic, sustainable food with a Latin American influence. By far, one of my favorite brunch spots!
Bongo Room: So obviously I love brunch. There’s a party in my mouth every time I eat here. I prefer the Wicker Park or Andersonville locations.
